According to a report by TUTTOmercatoWEB, both the Hammers and Fiorentina are 'confident' the transfer of defender Nikola Milenkovic to West Ham United will be done - with only the 'last details' still to be polished.

The Lowdown: West Ham in Milenkovic talks...

GSB have been in talks to complete a deal for the Serbian powerhouse over this last week, with a report from the Daily Mail last week detailing him as West Ham's top central defensive target.

Manager David Moyes is said to be prioritising the signing of a new centre-back above every other position before the transfer window  closes on August 31.

As of now, the Irons have just Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson as first team senior options following Fabian Balbuena's departure and their inclusion in the Europa League means they simply must add depth to that position.

The Latest: West Ham confident they will sign Milenkovic...

Bringing an update from Italy, TMW provide a very encouraging bit of news for West Ham supporters who wish to see their side finally make a second major summer signing after Alphonse Areola.

They say that West Ham, as well as Fiorentina, are 'confident' the transfer of Milenkovic to the English capital will be completed for a fee of around €16 million (£13.5m) plus bonuses.

Milenkovic apparently awaits the green light to travel to West Ham and talks between the two clubs 'continue unabated' to 'polish the last details'.

The only remaining hurdle is allegedly agent's commissions that Milenkovic's representatives will have to receive before the move can be done.

The Verdict: Boost for Moyes?

This claim from Italy potentially comes as one of real promise as Moyes aims to bring in at least one new centre-half through the door before the start of 2021/2022.

Possibly signing Milenkovic for just £13.5m plus add-ons will be a great bit of business if West Ham can get this one done and indeed polish off the last details.

Lauded as an 'extraordinary' player by Spanish defender Pol Lirola (SOSFantacalcio via XSport.news), the 23-year-old still has plenty of years ahead of him and possesses the physicality to succeed in England - standing at a huge 6 foot 4.

Amid the waiting game, Hammers supporters will be eager to see this one go through as soon as possible.
