Writing on Twitter, journalist Ekrem Konur has shared news as West Ham United target a move for West Bromwich Albion midfield ace Matheus Pereira.

The Lowdown: West Ham eye Pereira...

Since reports emerged of Jesse Lingard's move to east London looking more and more unlikely, Pereira has become the alternative target as manager David Moyes looks to bolster his attacking midfield options.

The Brazilian, who managed a brilliant 11 goals and six assists for West Brom in the Premier League last season (WhoScored), has been heavily linked to West Ham.

ExWHUemployee even lifted the lid on an enquiry over price not too long ago with Konur now sharing what he knows.

The Latest: Hammers in official talks...

As per the Turkish reporter, writing on his social media, West Ham are in negotiations to sign Pereira this summer - but they are not the only ones chasing him.

Indeed, Saudi Arabian champions Al Hilal are also on the attacker's case and have lodged a £13 million offer, which is said to be far short of West Brom's demands.

Their manager, Leonardo Jardim, apparently desires a move for the 25-year-old 'very much' but WBA will not settle for less than £22 million.

Konur also explains that West Ham are now 'officially in talks' with the Baggies but is unclear as to whether they will match Pereira's valuation.

The Verdict: Simply a must...

If signing Lingard permanently is off the table, you will find very few better alternative targets than Pereira.

His goals and assists from midfield last campaign are arguably reason enough to consider moving, yet alone the fact he averaged more key passes per 90 in the final third (1.8) than any West Ham player over 20/21 (WhoScored).

He has also been called 'unbelievable' by Leeds United personality Joe Wainman (Just Joe Football Show via This is Futbol) when the Whites were linked. Wainman believes that Pereira would be a 'no-brainer' signing for his own club.

If West Ham talks amount to his eventual capture, there is little arguing Moyes would be really boosted ahead of a gruelling 2021/2022 campaign in four competitions.
