Taking to Twitter, journalist Ekrem Konur has lifted the lid on a new West Ham United bid as they lodge an offer to sign Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic.
The Lowdown: West Ham in Milenkovic talks…
As per Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, GSB and the Irons are ‘in talks’ with Fiorentina over Milenkovic amid difficulties surrounding a potential deal for fellow centre-back target Kurt Zouma.
ExWHUemployee also explains that signing a new centre-half is now manager David Moyes’ top priority before reinforcing other positions.
Now, Konur has lifted the lid on a new West Ham transfer offer, this time for Milenkovic.
The Latest: Irons make another transfer bid…
As per the Turkish reporter, writing on social media, West Ham have now made a bid for Milenkovic as they look to strengthen Moyes’ options.
The 23-year-old, who started 34 Serie A matches for La Viola over 2020/2021, is the subject of intense personal interest from Moyes who wants to complete a deal for Milenkovic or Zouma.
Indeed, so much so that West Ham have tabled a £14 million offer to sign Milenkovic this summer.
“West Ham have made a £14m bid for Fiorentina for Nikola Milenkovic,” the reporter stated (via Twitter).
“David Moyes wants Kurt Zouma or Nikola Milenkovic’s transfer completed.”
The Verdict: Get it done…
As per reliable sources, like Charlie Eccleshare of the Athletic, prying Milenkovic away from Fiorentina could be a ‘relatively straightforward deal’ for clubs interested (Twitter).
He could even depart the Artemio Franchi Stadium for as little as €15 million (£12.8m), with Irons supporters now facing a wait to see if their proposed bid for Milenkovic will be accepted.
Given his impressive exploits last season, we believe he could be quite the capture.
Milenkovic, standing at a colossal 6 foot 5, averaged more successful aerial duels per 90 over 2020/21 (3) than any West Ham defender (WhoScored) – highlighting his physical presence as a major attribute.
Still at a fairly young age, the centre-back could also come with a big potential sell-on value in years to come.
