# West Ham United: David Moyes eyeing Jordan Amavi

**According to a report by Italian news outlet[Il Milanista](https://www.ilmilanista.it/news/milan-thauvin-e-amavi-tutte-le-squadre-sui-francesi/), as translated and shared by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-interested-potential-summer-free-agent-bolster-defence-player-already-pl-experience/), West Ham United are eyeing Marseille ace Jordan Amavi – with manager David Moyes and co reportedly interested in this potential summer free agent.**

### West Ham eyeing Amavi

Amavi, who has suffered from a fair share of injury problems this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jordan-amavi/verletzungen/spieler/241229)), resulting in [little game time](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/134902/History/Jordan-Amavi), hasn’t put pen to paper on an extension at the Stade Velodrome – resulting in some clubs taking note ahead of the summer window.

[Il Milanista](https://www.ilmilanista.it/news/milan-thauvin-e-amavi-tutte-le-squadre-sui-francesi/) relay that as well as West Ham, Serie A giants AC Milan and Napoli are taking note – with the latter side keeping tabs after a bad injury to their left-back Faouzi Ghoulam.

The 27-year-old, who has Premier League experience with Aston Villa having played there from 2015-2017, is now on the Hammers radar – and GSB could theoretically sign him for free in the summer as his contract expires at the end of this season.

### Transfer Tavern take

Despite his fitness concerns over 2020/2021, former Marseille boss Andre Villas-Boas has allegedly been quoted as calling him ‘amazing’ ([HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/11/16/report-jordan-amavi-could-return-to-england-with-crystal-palace/)) for his exploits at the start of the season.

As well as this, former Premier League boss Tim Sherwood called Amavi a ‘top player’ when the duo worked together at Villa Park back in 2015 ([official](https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2015/09/23/sherwood-my-advice-to-amavi)).

Still nearing his prime and having averaged an impressive 2.1 tackles and 2.2 interceptions per 90 in Ligue 1 over 2019/2020 when playing regularly ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/134902/History/Jordan-Amavi)), it is clear he could be a coup for the east Londoners on a free summer deal if they decide to take their interest any further.
