# West Ham United: David Moyes eyeing yet another Slavia Prague gem in Jan Kuchta

**According to a report by the [Daily Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1442197/West-Ham-transfer-news-Alex-Kral-Euro-2020), West Ham United and, by extension, manager David Moyes have been watching yet another Slavia Prague gem in striker Jan Kuchta.**

### The Lowdown: The Hammers and Slavia, a match made in heaven…

Both clubs have seemingly enjoyed a fruitful relationship since last summer as reports continue to emerge of West Ham’s interest in their star players.

The Irons secured first team regulars [Tomas Soucek](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12035297/west-ham-sign-tomas-soucek-from-slavia-prague-on-four-year-deal) and [Vladimir Coufal](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/54383255) from the Czech Republic giants last summer and both players went on to [shine in the Premier League.](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/11-may/tomas-soucek-and-vladimir-coufal-earn-jamie-carragher-praise-sky)

Other Slavia players have duly been heavily linked with the Hammers and could be targeted by Moyes, with rising talent [Abdallah Sima](https://www.claretandhugh.info/moyes-narrows-down-his-window-options/) and goalkeeper [Ondrej Kolar](https://theathletic.com/2290723/2020/12/30/lukasz-fabianski-contract/) among those mentioned.

### The Latest: Yet another Slavia gem on West Ham’s radar…

In detailing West Ham’s extensive talks to sign midfielder Alex Kral this summer, who played for Slavia before joining Spartak Moscow, the [Daily Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1442197/West-Ham-transfer-news-Alex-Kral-Euro-2020) also lifted the lid on Moyes’ interest in Kuchta. Indeed, as explained in the report, the 24-year-old has been ‘watched closely’ by West Ham as they plot to bolster their squad.

The Hammers have secured their place in the 2021/22 Europa League group stage [without the need for qualifiers](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-europa-league-opponents-20669631) but arguably lack sufficient back up in key positions.

Going forward, their [sole centre-forward](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/kadernachposition/verein/379) Michail Antonio was consistently [plagued by injury issues](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/apr/09/michael-antonio-could-miss-rest-of-season-west-ham-david-moyes) during the season, and Moyes may need to shore up his options. As a result, Kuchta is now another Slavia gem on the radar at West Ham.

### The Verdict: The right one?

With the Hammers seemingly plotting to raid the Czech Republic for more bargains, we believe the 24-year-old is certainly a credible candidate for a move to the Premier League.

Sima has arguably [grabbed most of the attention](https://twitter.com/JaroslavTvrdik/status/1334685732435357696) for his stunning Slavia performances but Kuchta has done just as well when it comes to finding the net. The forward bagged a commendable [19 goals in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jan-kuchta/leistungsdaten/spieler/334802) under Jindřich Trpišovský over 2020/21, whilst Sima notched just one more in that time ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/abdallah-sima/leistungsdaten/spieler/776798)).

Kuchta is also a team player, having managed an impressive [nine assists for Slavia](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jan-kuchta/leistungsdaten/spieler/334802) to accompany those goals. Therefore, he could be a great option for West Ham as their search for a new striker continues.
