# West Ham United: David Moyes is a ‘long-term admirer’ of Joe Worrall

**West Ham United manager is a ‘long-term admirer’ of Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.**

### The Lowdown: Worrall’s form

Worrall has played a huge part in Forest’s recent fantastic form, with the Championship side having [won four and drawn three of their last seven league games.](https://www.skysports.com/nottingham-forest-results)

Featuring in [every league game this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-worrall/leistungsdaten/spieler/415970) for which he’s been available, the 25-year-old has led his side in interceptions made per game, of which he averages two, and further tops the list for most passes made, of which he makes 55.1 a game (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/174/Show/England-Nottingham-Forest)).

Consequently, a number of [rumours](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10607845/West-Ham-Nottingham-Forest-defender-Joe-Worrall.html) linking the 6 foot 4 colossus away from his boyhood club have emerged.

### The Latest: West Ham’s interest

It was previously reported that Worrall was on [West Ham’s radar last summer,](https://www.claretandhugh.info/report-league-one-defender-on-hammers-radar/) however, a formal offer failed to materialise, and the player remained with the second-tier side.

O’Rourke has confirmed this news [amid rumours of a potential move this summer.](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10607845/West-Ham-Nottingham-Forest-defender-Joe-Worrall.html)

Speaking with [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/87986494-west-ham-david-moyes-a-long-term-admirer-of-6ft-4-leader), he claimed: *“I think David Moyes is a long-term admirer of Joe Worrall; he was interested in previous transfer windows. Worrall has done well for Forest this year.”*

### The Verdict: Solid signing

With Craig Dawson’s and Issa Diop’s contracts expiring in the [summer of 2023](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/vertragsende/verein/379/vertragsendeJahr/2023), Moyes will be scouring the market in search of replacement centre-backs.

Worrall could prove to be a fantastic budget option for the Scotsman, with his current market valuation at just [£3.6 million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-worrall/marktwertverlauf/spieler/415970), although one would assume they will have to pay more than that given his current form.

During his loan tenure with Rangers, former manager [Steven Gerrard hailed](https://www.nottinghampost.com/sport/football/football-news/steven-gerrard-worrall-rangers-forest-2606924) the towering defender, saying that “he will be a captain of whatever team he plays for”, claiming “he is a leader”.

Moyes could use another strong presence in the back-line to partner Kurt Zouma, so Worrall could prove to be a great addition for the Irons.
