# West Ham United: Declan Rice won’t be allowed to leave for under £100m

**West Ham United have ‘confirmed’ to journalist Tom Clark that they never received a bid for Declan Rice and value him at a minimum of £100million.**

### The Lowdown: High demand for midfielder

Rice has been on [Chelsea and others’ wishlists](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1490059/West-Ham-transfer-news-Declan-Rice-Chelsea-Man-Utd-Glen-Johnson-Premier-League) for [some time now](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/chelsea-declan-rice-transfer-bid-22943396) and the midfielder’s impressive performances for West Ham has seen his [value](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/profil/spieler/357662) increase.

His Euro 2020 performances, where he and Kalvin Phillips both impressed, have only seen the rumours increase around the 22-year-old.

The player has been hailed ‘[excellent](https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/05/blogs/premier-league/west-ham/west-ham-united-alan-shearer-praises-declan-rice/)‘ by BBC pundit Alan Shearer previously and he has become a leader in David Moyes’ side, as they finished sixth in the Premier League last season.

### The Latest: No less than £100million

According to football.london journalist[Tom Clark](https://twitter.com/_thomasjclark/status/1437450275376271361), Chelsea and City will have to cough up more than £100million to begin negotiations with the Hammers, with Rice having three years remaining on his current contract.

Clark stated on his Twitter: “What I have been told is he is happy, not for sale & West Ham confirmed to me they’ve never received an offer for him & aren’t open to one.

“£100m is value West Ham have put on him.”

### The Verdict: Huge boost for Moyes

Rice’s importance to the West Ham squad is indisputabl. [Last season](https://www.sofascore.com/player/declan-rice/856714) he played 32 games for the Hammers, completing 88% of his passes, making 1.8 interceptions per game, 1.8 tackles per game and completing 85% of his dribbles.

Moyes saying Rice is worth more than £100million is a testament to the academy graduate and his rise to be a regular in England’s midfield, while it also shows exactly how happy the manager will be to know the club are backing his strong stance.

His career so far warrants a chance to prove himself at the top level in the Champions League and a move to the likes of Chelsea would do this, but the Hammers have every right to demand an astronomical fee given his incredible rise in the past few years.
