# West Ham United: Fans react to Andriy Yarmolenko training return

**Andriy Yarmolenko has been pictured back in training for West Ham, as evidenced by images on the club’s official website [whufc.com](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/march/12-march/pictures-hammers-get-set-old-trafford) and shared on Twitter by [@WHUFC\_News](https://twitter.com/WHUFC_News/status/1371539003716079616).\**

Yarmolenko has missed the past five Premier League matches after sustaining a [knee ligament injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andriy-yarmolenko/leistungsdaten/spieler/69015) in the goalless draw with Fulham early in February, but it now looks as if he will be able to provide David Moyes with another attacking option during the run-in as the Hammers, currently fifth, look to secure European football.

The 31-year-old Ukrainian netted [five Premier League goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andriy-yarmolenko/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/69015) last season but has yet to score in the competition this term. In fact, [four of his seven goal involvements](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andriy-yarmolenko/profil/spieler/69015) in all competitions came in a 5-1 Carabao Cup rout of Hull City back in September.

He has averaged only 0.5 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per game this season (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/41672/Show/Andriy-Yarmolenko)) and has been [statistically the second-worst performer](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/29/Show/England-West-Ham) still in Moyes’ squad in 2020/21. He has also attracted [scorn from numerous Irons fans](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2021/02/10/west-ham-fans-slam-yarmolenko/) over some of his performances in recent months.

These supporters weren’t overly enthused at learning of Yarmolenko’s return to first team training:
