# West Ham United: Fans react to Josh Cullen’s latest comments

**West Ham United manager David Moyes will have to make a decision soon as all sides in the Premier League will have to select a squad of [25 to register](https://www.premierleague.com/news/1335777) for the upcoming season.**

This might mean that some players will have to move out on loan or leave the club permanently to play consistent football and one of them could be midfielder Josh Cullen.

The [24 year-old](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-cullen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/242606) has been discussing his future with the [club](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/september/15-september/josh-cullen-charlton-athletic-lee-bowyer-ireland-and-west), via [West Ham News,](https://twitter.com/whufc_news/status/1305832536065675266?s=20) and he said: “I think sometimes people think that I’m 24, and if I was good enough I’d be playing by now, but you see teams buy players who are 25 or 26 from the Championship, so I don’t see the difference between that and me going there and getting experience and getting games.”

This is a very fair point for the player to make, he can still make it at the top level, but for now whilst he is not being selected he clearly needs to improve in some aspects, so a loan move would not hurt him.

The Irishman, who is [valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-cullen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/242606) at £1.08 million, has only made[nine](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-cullen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/242606) senior appearances for the club, however one of these games was [recently](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-cullen/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/242606) in the Carabao Cup and he might not have to be loaned out to play consistently now as he was [praised](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/fixtures-results/west-ham-player-ratings-vs-18940914) for his performance in the victory, and this might see Moyes start to favour him more this season.

Here is what fans said following his comments, with many split. Some want to see him finally given a chance, whilst others seem to think that he is not good enough, given he is still yet to breakthrough at 24. One even described him as a ‘poor man’s Mark Noble’ – Cullen’s fellow midfielder has been a regular to the Hammers for years now and he would have to usurp him for a place in the team.

> Batshuayi is 26 and still having to go out on loan so I see his point

> I watched him alot last year and he’s fitter and more technically gifted than Mark, not Mark in his prime. But he’s not in his prime, far from it. So we need to give the boy a chance. What do we have to lose.

> But lets face it as much as everyone wants him to make it he just seems like a poor mans mark noble

> Cullen has such a great attitude I’m actually praying it comes good for him & its a fair point raised by him too. Far more mobile than Noble for instance & aggressive when trying to put the ball into the box [https://t.co/0E1nr6LJC2](https://t.co/0E1nr6LJC2)
