# West Ham United: Fans react to latest transfer news as Carlos Sanchez rejects move away

**West Ham United tried to get rid of midfielder Carlos Sanchez before the recent transfer deadline, but the player himself rejected moves away according to a report from [football.london](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/west-ham-fail-flog-flop-17680452).**

It is suggested that Spanish clubs Leganes, Huesca and Cadiz were all interested in taking the Colombian on loan until the end of the season, whilst Turkish outfit Antalyaspor were also keen. Leganes are thought to have been the club pushing hardest to sign the 33-year-old, but he refused to leave the Hammers and wants to fight for his place in the team.

However, he wasn’t even involved in the matchday squad in their most recent Premier League encounter against Brighton & Hove Albion ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/carlos-sanchez/leistungsdaten/spieler/51226)) and with his contract set to expire in the summer, it seems unlikely that he has a future in east London.

Plenty of West Ham fans are fuming that the Colombia international didn’t move on before the deadline, with most believing that the real reason is not because he wants to stay and fight for a place but instead because he didn’t want to give up his £64,000-per-week wage (via [football.london](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/west-ham-fail-flog-flop-17680452)).

Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…

> Haha, fighting for his place.. he didn’t want to give up his wages – final pay day for him

> Translation: Sanchez decided he didn’t want to leave because he’s happy to sit on the bench and collect his nice wages every week.

> Another player collecting a pay check. He won’t play, but gets paid handsomely. Send to South America and be done with him.
