# West Ham United: GSB talks begin with contact made over signing Boulaye Dia

**According to a claim by Eurosport journalist [Dean Jones](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesBR/status/1349365838051241989), West Ham ‘contact has been made’ for the signing of Reims striker Boulaye Dia – with a fee just needing to be negotiated as talks begin for the ‘[bargain](https://theathletic.com/2266355/2021/01/02/dia-milik-olise-transfers/?source=user_shared_article)‘ Ligue 1 forward, as listed in [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2266355/2021/01/02/dia-milik-olise-transfers/?source=user_shared_article).**

Writing on Twitter, the journalist delivered a promising update on GSB’s hunt for a new striker this January – going on to claim that talks have been initiated by West Ham over a ‘[potential deal](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesBR/status/1349365838051241989)‘, confirming that ‘[contact has been made](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesBR/status/1349365838051241989)‘.

### GSB in contact for Dia

ExWHUemployee, backing up this claim via [West Ham News](https://twitter.com/WHUFC_News/status/1349314011993665536), recently stated that Dia is the club’s number one transfer target and they are looking to step up their pursuit of the 24-year-old.

Now, Jones has written on social media that contact has been made over signing the star attacker – who has been in red hot form for Reims this campaign.

### Transfer Tavern take

Bagging [12 goals in just 16 league starts](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/365122/Show/Boulaye-Dia), he appears to be a frightening talent – so much so that [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2266355/2021/01/02/dia-milik-olise-transfers/?source=user_shared_article) named him as a bargain signing for the January window.

This also comes after a source close to [Claret & Hugh](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-transfer-rumours/west-ham-united-insider-confirms-interest-in-signing-boulaye-dia-is-real/) revealed that GSB’s interest is ‘real’, with this development emerging that talks are underway and contact being made.

However, a fee still needs to be negotiated, and it remains to be seen what price the club end up agreeing on for the attacking ace, if at all.
