# West Ham United: Hammers dealt potential Jesse Lingard worry

**According to a report by [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/14467676/man-utd-jesse-lingard-contract-transfer/amp/), Manchester United could be willing to offer Jesse Lingard a new three-year deal and are apparently ‘open’ to his return – dealing a potential blow to West Ham United as they eye a permanent move for the Englishman.**

Lingard, who signed on loan in January, has been in stunning form for David Moyes’ side, scoring five goals and setting up two others in just seven Premier League starts ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/109000/Show/Jesse-Lingard)).

### West Ham dealt potential Lingard worry

As a result, West Ham are reportedly keen on securing him permanently in the summer, but [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/14467676/man-utd-jesse-lingard-contract-transfer/amp/) has shared a potential worry for the Hammers as his parent club will assess bringing him back to Old Trafford with the possibility of a new three-year contract.

Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has apparently been impressed by Lingard’s performances in east London and remains a huge fan despite previously reducing him to the fringes.

According to this report, West Ham are set to try and land the 28-year-old, but the clubs are apart in asking price as GSB value him somewhere between [£15m and £20m.](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/14467676/man-utd-jesse-lingard-contract-transfer/amp/)

### Transfer Tavern take

Manchester United chiefs are said to want a higher fee if a deal is to be struck, but it remains to be seen if the Red Devils’ apparent new stance on Lingard does indeed come as a blow to West Ham.

They apparently haven’t ruled out a new deal for the England international, which may come as a surprise given he was far from Solskjaer’s plans before his London switch, having [not played a single Premier League minute in 2020/21](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) prior to his loan move.
