# West Ham: Talks to resume for Hans Vanaken

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) are still in talks with Club Brugge over a potential move for midfielder Hans Vanaken, according to reliable club insider [ExWHUemployee](https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee/status/1561471253264973825).**

### **The Lowdown**

According to a report by [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/aug/19/football-transfer-rumours-real-madrid-target-bruno-guimaraes), the Hammers have set their sights on signing the 29-year-old and have since had two offers rejected by the Belgian giants. The initial £8m bid was swiftly declined, and their response waits to be seen for the Irons’ latest improved offer.

Amid speculation of a move to West Ham, Vanaken has [made public](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/west-ham-united-hans-vanaken-transfer-news-latest-rumours-moyes/) his intent to join the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) outfit this summer.

### **The Latest**

ExWHUemployee has shared an update on the progress of the negotiations between the Hammers and Brugge over a possible deal for Vanaken, with some West Ham fans [seemingly desperate](https://twitter.com/budge_alfie/status/1561466697630072835) for the club to sign a new midfielder.

Alongside news of Emerson, the reliable insider revealed on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/ExWHUemployee/status/1561471253264973825): “Talks to resume for Vanaken.”

### **The Verdict**

Hailed as a [‘towering’](https://twitter.com/HenryTJourno/status/1559292713329168386) playmaker by journalist Henry Tomlinson, it is easy to see why David Moyes is keen on bringing the [6 foot 5](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hans-vanaken/profil/spieler/137576) Belgium international to the London Stadium this summer.

In [344 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hans-vanaken/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/137576/verein/2282) for Club Brugge, Vanaken has scored 102 goals and has produced a further 73 assists, boasting incredible numbers for a midfielder.

With the Irons having [failed to score](https://www.skysports.com/west-ham-united-results) in their opening three [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) games, the arrival of Vanaken would hopefully add goals to a stagnant Hammers team who will be looking for inspiration in the final third.

Therefore, this could be a great [seventh permanent summer signing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) for Moyes’ squad if they can pull it off.
