# West Ham United: Insider makes Jordan Pickford transfer claim

**West Ham United insider [Claret & Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/areola-alternative-considered/) have now shared some interesting transfer news out of Rush Green involving Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.**

### The Lowdown: West Ham face goalkeeping decision?

Ahead of this summer transfer window, the Hammers and manager David Moyes face a major decision over what to do in one area of the squad.

Between the sticks, GSB and West Ham [have the option](https://www.claretandhugh.info/areola-alternative-considered/) to make Alphonse Areola’s loan move from Paris Saint-Germain a permanent one this summer or even [re-sign him again](https://www.claretandhugh.info/areola-alternative-considered/) on loan.

However, reports suggest they could face stiff competition from [Areola’s former club Fulham](https://www.claretandhugh.info/areola-alternative-considered/) for his services.

West Ham have been linked to alternative options, like soon-to-be free agent [Sam Johnstone of West Brom](https://the72.co.uk/262078/west-ham-could-sign-west-broms-sam-johnstone-early-in-the-summer-window-report-claims/), with [C&H](https://www.claretandhugh.info/areola-alternative-considered/) now saying the Irons have their eyes on another in Pickford.

According to [the club insider](https://www.claretandhugh.info/areola-alternative-considered/), West Ham ‘could try to do a deal’ for Pickford if his club are relegated at the end of 2021/2022.

The Toffees face a battle to stay up with Moyes and co apparently keeping tabs on his situation ahead of a potential summer move.

Pickford emerges as an alternative to Areola amid the competition from Fulham.

### The Verdict: Make a move?

The Sun journalist [Alan Nixon](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/16941857/everton-jordan-pickford-tottenham-transfer-england/), sharing his most recent valuation, claimed Everton want around £30m for Pickford as the £100,000-per-week ace now attracts interest from West Ham.

An international hero with England, with ex-Hammer Trevor Sinclair even calling him [one of the world’s best](https://talksport.com/football/906635/england-jordan-pickford-best-goalkeeper-world-euro-2020-everton/) after his Euro 2020 heroics, the 28-year-old has also been lavished with real praise by former Three Lions man Danny Mills.

Given they could either activate Areola’s permanent clause or sign Johnstone for free, moving for the Toffees shot stopper could come as an arguably unnecessary risk financially – even if his quality is there.
