### The Lowdown: Irons searching for a midfielder

The Hammers have been linked with numerous midfielders throughout the January transfer window. [Jesse Lingard](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4577976/january-transfer-window-anthony-martialpierre-emerick-aubameyangantonio-rudiger-among-players-who-could-move) has been the most prevalent of which, following his sensational loan [with the Irons last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660), where he scored nine goals and produced five assists in 16 appearances for David Moyes’ side.

More recent reports claim West Ham made a club-record £50million bid to sign Leeds United’s [Kalvin Phillips,](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12528567/kalvin-phillips-west-ham-bid-50m-for-leeds-midfielder-paper-talk) suggesting that the London club are still in the market for a midfielder.

### The Latest: Hammers want Ramsey

According to a report by [The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/cf76fee8-826b-11ec-b939-57ea9f594ba1?shareToken=8ecd7ed13bca429a72a54cc498093f75), West Ham have joined the race to sign Juventus midfielder Ramsey.

The Turin giants reportedly want to offload the Wales international, who earns around [£250,000 a week](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/cf76fee8-826b-11ec-b939-57ea9f594ba1?shareToken=8ecd7ed13bca429a72a54cc498093f75).

Another report by [David Ornstein](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1488114999029551108?s=20&t=GQLWRisUbtigh_WUst_XcA) revealed that there is one Premier League team, one European outfit and also Rangers all eyeing the player, who is [reportedly](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1488114999029551108?s=20&t=GQLWRisUbtigh_WUst_XcA) sat waiting at a private airport ‘about to decide’ his next move.

### The Verdict: A fantastic signing

Ramsey would be a fantastic signing for Moyes’ side as he would bring a high-level of experience to the squad. Having featured in [262 Premier League matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-ramsey/leistungsdaten/spieler/50057), the Welshman would be able to guide the youngsters breaking into the first-team, and further provide a calm presence in the Hammers’ midfield.

Following EURO 2020, Wales teammate [Joe Allen](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/wales/euro-2020/news/joe-allen-lavishes-praise-on-gareth-bale-aaron-ramsey_451967.html) described Ramsey’s tournament as ‘incredible’, claiming that he demonstrated why he is a ‘world-class’ player.

Therefore, if Moyes is able to revive his career and help him replicate the fine form he had at Arsenal – where he bagged [65 goals and 65 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-ramsey/leistungsdaten/spieler/50057) – then Ramsey could prove to be one of the best signings of the January window.
