# West Ham United: Irons source shares mid-week Duvan Zapata update

**Sharing a[mid-week update](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-update-zapata-talks-report/), a West Ham United source has shared some news to Claret & Hugh amid the Hammers’ mooted move for Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata.**

### The Lowdown: West Ham’s ‘first choice’?…

According to Milan Live, as translated by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-west-hams-first-choice-summer-transfer-hammers-already-made-two-attempts-january/), the Hammers and manager David Moyes have apparently made the 30-year-old attacker their top transfer target this summer.

This comes after West Ham had January bids for the Colombian with [Corriere Bergamo](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-made-two-offers-30-year-old-gong-one-unacceptable-e32m/) claiming that both loan and permanent deal bids were indeed attempted.

As manager David Moyes allegedly re-ignites his interest with a summer move for Zapata mooted, a West Ham source close to [C&H](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-update-zapata-talks-report/) has shared an update.

### The Latest: West Ham source shares mid-week update…

According to[the Hammers insider’s information](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-update-zapata-talks-report/), via the source on Tuesday morning, it is true that West Ham made a move in January but they currently have no plans to rekindle their interest.

*”Yes, we did make that move but that’s the only truth in the current report. There are no talks going on at all.”*

### The Verdict: Re-consider?

Reportedly valued at around [£30 million](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-update-zapata-talks-report/), the towering 6 foot 2 striker is approaching the twilight phase of his career at age 30 and that is arguably a lot of money to part with taking that into account.

He isn’t without his perks, though, with Zapata having been called a [‘fearsome’ and a ‘beast’](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1553303/Newcastle-transfer-news-Duvan-Zapata-Atalanta-Colombian-forward-Premier-League) by South American football expert Tim Vickery.

The player’s goal return, however, also comes as fairly consistent at a high level – having scored [nine Serie A goals and three in the Champions League this season.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/duvan-zapata/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/73794)

News of West Ham denying their interest in the player could, there, come as slightly disappointing.
