Indeed, as per the outlet, the Irons have climbed into pole position and are hopeful they will win the race to sign him – coming after they first revealed that GSB are ‘[laying the groundwork](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-in-pole-position-to-sign-celtic-striker-edouard-after-breakthrough/)‘ for his signing.

### Irons still in pole position for Edouard

Now, as they bring an update, Football Insider claim Leicester and manager Brendan Rodgers are having ‘second thoughts’ over Edouard in a potential boost for the Irons.

Indeed, they say the Foxes interest has ‘diminished’ amid the sensational form of Kelechi Iheanacho – which surely gifts the Hammers an uplift in the chase for Edouard as a competitor potentially looks elsewhere.

They first reported that West Ham were making ‘[progress behind the scenes](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-in-pole-position-to-sign-celtic-striker-edouard-after-breakthrough/)‘ for Edouard – and this news of Leicester’s interest could reinforce that progress further.

### Transfer Tavern take

Scoring 20 goals in all competitions this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152)), Edouard comes as a prolific target who could also be available for a [cut price fee](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-in-pole-position-to-sign-celtic-striker-edouard-after-breakthrough/).

The 23-year-old still has plenty of seasons ahead of him and should arguably be up there with West Ham’s fellow priority striking targets Tammy Abraham, Youssef En-Nesyri, Ivan Toney and Adam Armstrong ([ExWHUemployee](https://www.patreon.com/posts/exwhuemployee-49079836?utm_medium=post_notification_email&utm_source=post_link&utm_campaign=patron_engagement&token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJyZWRpc19rZXkiOiJpbnN0YW50LWFjY2Vzczo3M2JjNWI0Yi0wYzc3LTRhMjktYmE3Mi02MzVjYmJkZjU5ZTYifQ.X_dE9HYebEkhwoT_SQRAPUD5o_tlsM36hCBjjTffz7I)).

He has been described as ‘phenomenal’ and ‘the best in Scotland’ when on his game by outspoken pundit Stephen Craigan to Go Radio (via[the Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/odsonne-edouard-burning-celtic-transfer-22763297)).

Pundit Kevin Phillips also claimed it would be a [‘no brainer’ and ‘huge bargain’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/west-ham-may-be-about-to-pull-off-huge-signing-with-edouard-capture-phillips/) to sign Edouard for a fee in the region of £8-10 million, as is [being reported](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-edouard-could-quit-celtic-for-just-8m-amid-unexpected-new-twist/), and it’s definitely hard to argue given his record in north of the border.
