# West Ham: Irons laying groundwork to sign Noa Lang

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) are laying the groundwork to sign Club Brugge star Noa Lang in January, according to a report by [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/milan-doppia-insidia-per-non-lang-74402).**

### **The Lowdown: Lang’s career so far**

Having arrived in Belgium last summer on a [permanent deal from Ajax](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/noa-lang/profil/spieler/339332), the left winger has gone on to produce [27 goals and 28 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/noa-lang/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/339332) in 92 games for the Jupiler Pro League outfit.

The 23-year-old has added a goal and assist to his tally so far [this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/noa-lang/leistungsdaten/spieler/339332), having struggled with an ankle injury for half of Brugge’s games.

Since joining the Belgian club, Lang has subsequently made his debut for the [Netherlands national team](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/noa-lang/nationalmannschaft/spieler/339332), further securing an additional four international appearances to his name.

### **The Latest: West Ham’s interest in Lang**

According to [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/milan-doppia-insidia-per-non-lang-74402), the Hammers are looking to sign the Dutch attacker in January.

Having [reportedly](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/milan-doppia-insidia-per-non-lang-74402) turned down a move to Leeds United this summer, the Irons join AC Milan and Atletico Madrid in the race to secure his services in the winter window.

As translated by [Hammers.News](https://www.hammers.news/transfer-news/west-ham-laying-groundwork-to-sign-former-ajax-star-noa-lang-in-january-claims-report-and-hes-clearly-said-benrahmas-replacement/), Calciomercato claimed: “Milan does not lose sight of Noa Lang, 23-year-old winger expiring in 2025 with Brugge: on him there are also West Ham and Atletico Madrid.”

### **The Verdict: Benrahma replacement?**

Known for his skilful abilities as a winger, Lang has earned [comparisons](https://www.hammers.news/transfer-news/west-ham-laying-groundwork-to-sign-former-ajax-star-noa-lang-in-january-claims-report-and-hes-clearly-said-benrahmas-replacement/) to West Ham’s Said Benrahma.

Despite creating more chances than anyone else in the Hammers’ squad this season (via [Fotmob](https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/47/stats/season/16390/players/total_att_assist)), the Algeria international often finds himself on the bench. having [started just three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/said-benrahma/leistungsdaten/spieler/290532) Premier League games so far in 2022/23.

In the [Irons’ 2-0 win over Wolves](https://www.skysports.com/football/west-ham-united-vs-wolverhampton-wanderers/teams/464724) at the weekend, David Moyes opted to replace the injured Maxwel Cornet with Pablo Fornals, rather than using the seemingly more direct replacement in the former Brentford ace.

Therefore, Lang – who has been dubbed [‘the Dutch Neymar’](https://twitter.com/theeuropeanlad/status/1447639959637274625) by members of the media – could be seen as a possible replacement for Benrahma, who appears to be struggling to win over his manager in east London.
