# West Ham: Moyes has a ‘genuine interest’ in signing Piotr Zielinski

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-transfer-rumours/) manager David Moyes has a ‘genuine interest’ in signing Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski this summer, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.**

### **The Lowdown: Reports in Italy**

As per [reports in Italy](https://paolobargiggia.tv/2022/07/25/esclusiva-zielinski-al-west-ham-prima-richiesta-del-napoli-agli-hammers-le-cifre/), the Serie A outfit have lowered the asking price for the Poland international.

Previously, it was claimed that Luciano Spalletti’s side were demanding £34m for the 28-year-old, but now it is believed that they would consider offers under the £30m mark.

With Moyes eager to secure a return to Europa League football, a number of [rumours](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-transfer-rumours/west-ham-irons-enter-piotr-zielinski-transfer-talks/) have emerged linking Zielinski with a move to East London.

### **The Latest: Taylor’s claim**

Taylor believes that Moyes’ reported interest in the attacking midfielder is genuine, with the Hammers boss looking to strengthen his side further after securing the signing of [Gianluca Scamacca](https://www.whufc.com/news/west-ham-united-sign-italy-international-centre-forward-gianluca-scamacca) from Sassuolo.

Speaking with [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88039110-west-ham-have-genuine-interest-in-30m-midfielder-at-london-stadium), the journalist claimed:

“That’s genuine interest. Which I find kind of interesting because he’s a bit more of an established player, which would align with the attempted Lingard move as well. Obviously, Lingard’s getting on a bit now. He’s experienced. Same with Zielinski.”

With such versatility, it is no wonder Moyes is keen on bringing the talented playmaker to the London Stadium, with the player having previously been described as [‘out of the ordinary’](https://www.thehardtackle.com/news/2020/11/11/piotr-zielinski-a-player-for-real-madrid-or-barcelona-claims-pepe-reina/) by former Napoli and Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
