# West Ham United set to announce second summer signing

[![Cheikhou Kouyate](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Cheikhou-Kouyate-500x353.jpeg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Cheikhou-Kouyate.jpeg)West Ham United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping their penultimate season at Upton Park is a good one.

They crave sexy football and have already seen their club sign Mauro Zarate from Velez Sarsfield this summer.

But according to the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/384055/Cheik-in-West-Ham-close-to-sealing-7-5m-swoop-for-Anderlecht-starlet-Kouyate), there could be another player on the way with Anderlecht youngster Cheikhou Kouyate coming in as part of a £7 million deal.

The highly-rated defender will now undergo a medical with the East London outfit before signing a four-year contract.

Despite interest from Spanish side Valencia, Sam Allardyce seems to have secured his man breaking into his £20 million transfer budget in the process.

Kouyate will now battle James Collins, Winston Reid and James Tomkins for a place in West Ham United’s starting eleven and Irons supporters will be hoping the Senegalese international isn’t a transfer replacement for the outstanding New Zealand international star, Reid.

### **West Ham fans. Is Sam Allardyce doing enough to win you over or are you still disappointed that he’s in charge? Let us know your thoughts below.**
