# West Ham forced to battle it out for Youssef En-Nesyri

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) are now set to face increased competition for the signing of Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.**

### The Lowdown: West Ham eyeing striker

David Moyes is a long-term admirer of En-Nesyri, making a bid of around [£26m](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1352186048667901953?s=20&t=zOALMN9yIrafkz2ZDwPjJQ) for the forward back in January 2021, an offer that was rejected by the La Liga club.

Spanish sources reported in the summer, via [Sports Mole,](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/transfer-talk/news/west-ham-agree-gbp21point5m-fee-with-sevilla-for-en-nesyri_488569.html) that the Moroccan was again close to joining with a lesser £21.5m deal actually agreed, but the move once again failed to transpire.

In light of the Hammers’ difficult start to the season, currently [16th](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) standings, they are once more planning to swoop for the World Cup sensation…

### The Latest: Facing competition

In a recent interview with [GIVEMESPORT](https://www.givemesport.com/88093132-west-ham-youssef-en-nesyri-transfer-rumours), journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that several teams will be weighing up a move for the 25-year-old after his performances in Qatar:

*“He’s been a long-term target for West Ham, they have struggled for goals again this season. Michail Antonio has not been as free scoring while Scamacca is still adapting to the Premier League.*

“*But for En-Nesyri, I think his performances at the World Cup for Morocco are just going to increase competition for his services, and there’ll be more than just West Ham who might be interested in him.*“

### The Verdict: Make it happen

The Irons have struggled in front of goal this season, with Gianluca Scamacca not exactly setting the world alight since arriving for [£35.5m](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12659015/gianluca-scamacca-west-ham-complete-35-5m-deal-for-sassuolo-striker) from Sassuolo in the summer, scoring just [twice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gianluca-scamacca/leistungsdaten/spieler/315867) in 13 Premier League outings.

Other forward option Michail Antonio has also registered just [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124) league goals, and he is now approaching the latter stages of his career at 32, paving the way for the La Liga ace to join in January.

At the World Cup, the 6 foot 2 powerhouse [scored](https://www.sofascore.com/morocco-portugal/eUbsDVb) the winner against Portugal to send Morocco to their first ever semi-final, exhibiting his aerial prowess by rising high to nod home the [highest-ever](https://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/en-nesyri-morocco-winners-against-portugal-beats-ronaldo-s-record-for-highest-headed-goal/blt1a962780f666cf3d) headed goal in the history of the competition.

Kevin Campbell has also dubbed him as being ‘skilful’ on the Highbury Squad podcast, via [TransferMarketWeb](https://www.transfermarketweb.com/liga/liga-sevilla-kevin-campbell-praised-youssef-en-nesyri-223827), another attribute to his game, to go alongside a very respectable scoring record with his national side, having netted [17](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youssef-en-nesyri/nationalmannschaft/spieler/433049) times in 55 appearances.

With Moyes clearly valuing the marksman in such high esteem, the time is right to bring him to the club in January, as he has the ability to instigate a change of fortunes at the London Stadium.
