# West Ham: Irons learn Gleison Bremer price tag

**Torino’s demands for reported West Ham United target Gleison Bremer have been revealed by Italian outlet [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/milan-su-bremer-il-torino-fissa-il-prezzo-e-chiede-pobega-69726).**

### The lowdown

It was [reported on Thursday](https://www.calciomercato.it/2021/12/08/calciomercato-juventus-inter-bremer-milenkovic-west-ham-milan/) that the 24-year-old featured on a shortlist of potential centre-back signings for West Ham, along with fellow Serie A stars Nikola Milenkovic and Daniele Rugani.

David Moyes [has said](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12490072/david-moyes-says-west-ham-may-look-to-january-transfer-window-to-fix-defensive-crisis) that the Hammers could make defensive additions in January after being rocked by injuries – [£29.8m](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/dec/07/kurt-zouma-out-for-up-to-12-weeks-with-hamstring-injury-in-blow-to-west-ham) summer signing Kurt Zouma suffered a serious hamstring injury last time out against Chelsea, potentially ruling him out for [up to 12 weeks](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/dec/07/kurt-zouma-out-for-up-to-12-weeks-with-hamstring-injury-in-blow-to-west-ham).

Angelo Ogbonna is [already](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/dec/07/kurt-zouma-out-for-up-to-12-weeks-with-hamstring-injury-in-blow-to-west-ham) set to miss the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign, which leaves [Craig Dawson and Issa Diop](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/startseite/verein/379) as the only fit natural centre-backs in the Irons’ senior squad.

### The latest

The report from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/milan-su-bremer-il-torino-fissa-il-prezzo-e-chiede-pobega-69726) states that Torino value Bremer at €25m, which equates to about £21.3m.

AC Milan, who are said to be rivalling West Ham for his signature, apparently consider that price tag to be excessive.

Encouragingly for his suitors, while talks are ongoing at Torino over a new contract for the Brazilian, he ‘continues to say no’ in that regard, and his current deal only has [one more full season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bremer/profil/spieler/516716) left to run.

### The verdict

The deals for Zouma and Diop ([£22.5m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transferrekorde/verein/379)) have shown that West Ham are happy to splash the cash on centre-backs they admire.

Is Bremer a good enough fit to merit another significant outlay? Intriguingly, he [boasts a similar playing profile](https://fbref.com/en/players/5fd5ed86/Gleison-Bremer#all_similar) to another rumoured January target for the Irons, Burnley’s [James Tarkowski](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/dec/07/kurt-zouma-out-for-up-to-12-weeks-with-hamstring-injury-in-blow-to-west-ham).

The Torino ace is a proactive defender, ranking in the 96th percentile among positional peers in the top five European leagues for pressures and the 99th percentile for interceptions (via [FB Ref](https://fbref.com/en/players/5fd5ed86/Gleison-Bremer)).

What’s more, he has also shown that he can hold his own against [elite strikers](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romelu-lukaku/erfolge/spieler/96341) like Romelu Lukaku. Last season, he was hailed for an [‘incredible’](https://www.fcinternews.it/l-avversario/torino-nicola-su-bremer-incredibile-con-l-inter-oggi-ha-pagato-dazio-363520) display up against the Belgian, who scored [24 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romelu-lukaku/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/96341) in Inter’s Serie A triumph.

If Bremer can excel against such quality opponents, it would be hard for West Ham fans not to get excited about the prospect of signing him.
