After a season of largely dominating the National League, it hasn’t taken long for some of Leyton Orient’s stars to be linked with a move away from east London.
The O’s returned to the Football League on the final day of the season after just two years in non-league, and with Justin Edinburgh’s side impressing in the division massively, many of the key players who helped the historic side achieve promotion are likely to be at the centre of interest from teams beyond League Two, and top goalscorer Macauley Bonne is already being targeted.
According to talkSPORT, Orient’s star striker has caught the eye of many teams across the country varying from League One play-off hopefuls Charlton Athletic to former Premier League champions Leicester City, and with a reported release clause of £200,000, Edinburgh would be smart to allow Bonne to move on this summer.
The Zimbabwe international has shown in his two years in the National League that he is a proven goalscorer and that whenever he plays goals are bound to come. And, although his impact on Orient has been massive, they simply can’t miss out on receiving a huge fee for a player they signed for cheap.
With a handful of teams interested in Bonne, Orient will never get a better opportunity than now to bring in a large sum of cash that can massively help the club in the long-term.
Leyton Orient fans, should Bonne be sold this summer? Let us know!
