# Wolves: Board planning to speak to Bruno Lage over recent form

**[Wolverhampton Wanderers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/)‘ board have planned to speak with manager Bruno Lage after the team’s run of poor results, according to journalist Owen O’Brien.**

### **The Lowdown: Slow start to the season**

Wolves have experienced a difficult start to the 2022/23 campaign; they currently sit [17th](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) in the [Premier League](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) table, having gained just [six points](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) from their opening seven games.

Their only win of the season so far has come [against Southampton in a 1-0 victory](https://www.skysports.com/wolverhampton-wanderers-results), with three draws and three losses rounding off their poor form, having [scored just three goals](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) all season.

### **The Latest: Wolves planning Lage talks**

O’Brien has now revealed that the Midlands club’s board are becoming impatient with Lage’s recent results, having [spent £98m on signings](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2022/08/26/98m-spent-in-wolves-biggest-summer-window-how-2022-signings-stack-up-with-previous-campaigns/) this summer.

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/SportOwenO/status/1571427721506619393) on Sunday in sharing a corresponding article for [Medium.com](https://medium.com/@SportOwenO/exclusive-wolves-growing-increasing-frustrated-with-bruno-lage-lack-of-goals-a-major-concern-f84be31e6454), the journalist revealed: “Exclusive: Wolves are growing increasingly frustrated with recent results and Bruno Lage – Club are planning to speak with 46yo to discuss matter – Lack of goals a major concern. #WWFC”

He further [added](https://twitter.com/SportOwenO/status/1571429358413271040): “Understand Wolves planned on speaking to Lage before yesterday’s result – No indications on whether they’re keen on making change this early.”

### **The Verdict: Striker badly needed**

Defensively, Wolves have looked solid this season. They have [conceded just seven goals](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table), three of which were from a [free-scoring](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) Man City side, with Jose Sa having kept an impressive [three clean sheets](https://www.premierleague.com/players/15715/player/stats?co=1&se=489).

At the other end, however, the story couldn’t be more different. With the [injury issues](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raul-jimenez/leistungsdaten/spieler/206040) suffered by Raul Jimenez this season, Wolves had been left without an out-and-out striker.

The club duly signed Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart in a deal worth [£15.5m](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11699/12685976/wolves-transfer-news-sasa-kalajdzic-joins-bruno-lages-side-from-stuttgart) plus add-ons. However, during the Southampton clash, he was forced off the pitch, later revealed to have ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.

After it was confirmed that the Austria international is [out for at least six months](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/wolves-sasa-kalajdzic-bruno-lage-steve-madeley-latest-injury-news-rumours-updates/), Lage turned to Diego Costa, who was a free agent after [leaving Atlético Mineiro](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-costa/profil/spieler/44779). However, with the former Chelsea man [unavailable](https://www.skysports.com/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-vs-manchester-city/464714) to start just yet, Wolves are desperate for one of their strikers to return to full fitness as soon as possible.
