# Wolverhampton Wanderers: Fans go crazy after Ruben Neves’ long-range strike

**Wolverhampton Wanderers fans were going crazy after Ruben Neves scored a brilliant long-range strike in their Europa League win over Espanyol.**

Just seven minutes into the second half, Adama Traore whipped in a cross from the right-hand side with a defender half clearing it. It landed at the feet of the Portugal international, who chested it down before unleashing a superb volley into the back of the net. It was the second goal in a 4-0 victory for the Midlands outfit, who were competing in European competition after Christmas for the first time since 1972 [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51533301).

Following the game, the £45m-rated, [as per Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruben-neves/leistungsdaten/spieler/225161), ace refused to get too excited over his strike as he claimed ‘a goal is a goal’ [(BT Sport via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/51468397). Fans were lavishing the 22-year-old with praise after his goal helped Nuno Espirito Santo’s side secure a huge win. Here is a selection of tweets from the faithful:
