# Wolverhampton Wanderers: Fans pick Joao Moutinho as player they would have liked at the club sooner

**Loads of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans were picking Joao Moutinho after they were asked by [@WolvesFC\_latest](https://twitter.com/Hqphelan/status/1240249494282866689?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) to choose a player they would have liked to have signed sooner.**

There were many replies, however, the Portugal international seemed to be a popular choice among the Molineux faithful. The former AS Monaco midfielder joined the club from the Ligue 1 side in the summer of 2018 for a fee believed to be just £5m [(via BBC)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44922630).

He has since been a crucial part of the club’s success enjoyed under Nuno Espirito Santo and has featured in 90 games in just under two seasons [(via Transfermarkt)](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-moutinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/29364). Moutinho has been in superb form this campaign, averaging the second-most passes and second-highest pass accuracy per game in the Premier League, [as per WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/161/Show/England-Wolverhampton-Wanderers).

Supporters were adamant the 33-year-old was the one player they would sign sooner if they were presented with the opportunity as they took to Twitter to react. Here is a selection of tweets:
