# Wolverhampton Wanderers: Fans worry over Europa League clash with Olympiakos following coronavirus update

**According to a tweet from the Athletic journalist [Tim Spiers](https://twitter.com/philstokes10/status/1236662353841795078?s=21), the Greek government has ruled that all sporting events should take place behind closed doors over the next two weeks – resulting in many Wolves fans responding sharply to the update.**

Wolves, who brilliantly[disposed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRCVfwPYFq4&feature=onebox) of La Liga outfit Espanyol in the round of 32, are due to play against Greek giants Olympiakos in the first leg of their last 16 clash on Thursday – but this news, potentially put in place to help combat growing coronavirus fears, could mean that supporters are unable to attend the clash despite many of them having already bought tickets and travel.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are currently enjoying a terrific season in the top flight, sitting[sixth](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) in the Premier League and unbeaten in their last five domestic outings. With that in mind, travelling supporters were looking forward to attending the clash – but this news has now prompted a sharp response, with one fan calling it a ‘[joke](https://twitter.com/BenShinton/status/1236658760975859712)‘.

Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.

> It would be a tragedy if it has to be played behind closed doors…A Greek Tragedy I suppose

> This is a joke if true, will lose out on £200 flights plus hotel. First chance to see Wolves away in Europe and this happens. Typical.

> Are the Greek government going to pay compensation to all fans that have paid for flight and hotels?
