Bent feels that the teenager was impressive for Wolves last season and expects other clubs to be plotting a transfer raid for Gibbs-White, who he thinks the club will be desperately trying to keep. He impressed me last season and I expected him to kick on this season. It’s tough to get youngsters in; it’s hard. You think to yourself: ‘When are you going to get youngsters in?’ “I think they \[other clubs\] will be sniffing around him now. Wolves will be desperate to hang on to him because he’s a good youngster and they can’t be seen as letting young kids leave.” Bent’s assertion that Wolves will be “desperate” to retain the services of Gibbs-White has not been reflected in the amount of gametime that he has been given in recent months. Although his proportion of gametime has increased slightly from 2018/19, that he has started only four of 13 matches doesn’t suggest that Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo views him as a key player at the club. While Bent may have been impressed by Gibbs-White’s performances for Wolves, the youngster has struggled to make an impact on games when he has been given gametime.
