# Wolves: Fans delighted as Matt Doherty transfer update emerges

**A number of Wolves supporters are delighted after a new report claimed Wanderers aren’t interested in re-signing Matt Doherty in the [January transfer window](https://www.givemesport.com/1754870-january-transfer-window-2022-when-does-it-open-when-does-it-close-and-which-players-are-going-to-move).**

The 29-year-old traded Wanderers for Spurs back in the summer of 2020, in a move that was supposedly seen as a step forward in his career.

Doherty has struggled hugely in north London, however, rarely finding himself as a regular in the team, [only registering four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matt-doherty/alletore/spieler/171679) in 42 appearances and not scoring a single goal.

The Republic of Ireland has been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-transfer-rumours/wolves-matt-doherty-backed-to-make-molineux-return/) with a return to Wolves this month, as he looks for a way out of Spurs, but that now appears to be unlikely.

According to [*The Mirror*](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/transfer-news-live-arsenal-manutd-25930869) \[via [*Talking Wolves*](https://twitter.com/TalkingWolves/status/1481635955832414209?s=20) on Twitter\], a reunion isn’t on the cards, with neither Wanderers or Doherty keen on the move coming to fruition.
