# Wolves: Fans react to managerial award for Nuno Espirito Santo

**Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo was presented with an award as the best Portuguese manager operating outside his homeland by a journalist from Portugal ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash against Braga.**

[Express & Star writer](https://twitter.com/njudah_star) Nathan Judah tweeted about the award for Nuno on his Twitter channel [@njudah\_star](https://twitter.com/njudah_star/status/1174304319430168576), with an image to verify that the Wolves manager was indeed presented with a colourful statuette.

> Nuno just awarded with ‘Best manager abroad’ from a Portuguese journalist…didn’t know that was an award but I’m not arguing! [#wwfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/wwfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/QH4X6ueo6Z](https://t.co/QH4X6ueo6Z)

Nuno is no stranger to individual managerial honours during his time at Molineux, having been named [EFL Championship Manager of the Month](https://www.efl.com/news/2017/december/manager-of-the-month-nuno---wolverhampton-wanderers/) in November 2017, [LMA Championship Manager of the Year](https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/first-team/20180516-nuno-named-championship-manager-of-the-year/) for the 2017/18 season and [Premier League Manager of the Month](https://www.premierleague.com/managers/17863/Nuno-Esp%C3%ADrito%20Santo/overview) last September.

He has also been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Sport from the University of Wolverhampton, as reported by the [Express & Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2019/05/04/watch-wolves-boss-nuno-espirito-santo-receives-honorary-doctorate-from-university-of-wolverhampton/), but Wolves go into this game off the back of a difficult start to the season.

Despite [reaching the Europa League group stage](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2019/aug/29/wolves-v-torino-europa-league-qualifying-play-off-second-leg-live), they are [winless in five Premier League games and second bottom of the table](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=210&ha=-1) after [shipping eight goals in losing their last two matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wolverhampton-wanderers/spielplandatum/verein/543).

These Wolves fans on Twitter gave their reactions to the award given to Nuno by his fellow countrymen ahead of the likes of [Jose Mourinho](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jose-mourinho/profil/trainer/781) and [Marco Silva](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marco-silva/profil/trainer/19631):
