# Wolves: Fans react to Romain Saiss exit links

**Wolves defender Romain Saiss is attracting interest from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes, according to a report from [Foot Mercato](https://www.footmercato.net/a2081217903258095490-le-stade-rennais-sinteresse-a-romain-saiss).**

Rennes, who finished sixth in their league, have identified the 31-year-old as a possible target. His contract expires at the end of the month, but the Molineux club [have the option](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romain-saiss/profil/spieler/204198) to extend it for a further year.

The Moroccan currently valued at £9m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romain-saiss/profil/spieler/204198).

### Saiss heavily involved for Wolves in 2020/21

Predominantly a centre-back, Saiss has made [174 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romain-saiss/leistungsdaten/spieler/204198) for Wolves in total. Last season, the 31-year-old played [30 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romain-saiss/profil/spieler/204198) in all competitions.

Saiss averaged 2.6 successful aerial duels, 1.3 tackles, 1.9 interceptions and 4.1 clearances in the Premier League in 2020/21 (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/236519/Show/Romain-Sa%C3%AFss)). However, that didn’t stop him from being a lightning rod for [criticism from some quarters](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/wolves-gabby-agbonlahor-slams-romain-saiss/) for a few less than spectacular performances.

### Will Lage have a say on Saiss?

Wolves may gauge the opinion of incoming manager Bruno Lage before deciding what to do with Saiss. According to [Tim Spiers](https://twitter.com/TimSpiers/status/1401851978519547908), the club’s correspondent for The Athletic, the 45-year-old is to be officially appointed later this week, with his contract details currently being finalised.

Twitter news feed [Talking Wolves](https://twitter.com/TalkingWolves/status/1401527539168907268) relayed the report, and here’s what some supporters made of it, with a few not seeing overly dismayed at the thought of Saiss leaving.
