# Wolves: Fans recall two-year anniversary of Ruben Neves’ first goal for the club

**Two years ago today, Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves scored his first goal for the club, a long-range effort against Hull that Wolves’ official Twitter channel delightfully recalled.**

Taking possession on the left-hand side, he cut infield before unleashing a powerful shot from 30 yards that gave Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor no chance of saving – quite a way to open the scoring after just [six minutes](https://www.skysports.com/football/hull-city-vs-wolves/374648) of the game.

The Portugal international’s magnificent goal ended up being a significant one on the night as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men [won 3-2 at the KCOM Stadium to preserve their 100% start to the campaign](https://www.skysports.com/football/hull-city-vs-wolves/374648) and it was their [third league game](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruben-neves/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225161/plus/0/saison/2017/wettbewerb/GB2/verein/543) of what ultimately was a Championship-winning season.

That was the first of [six league goals for Neves in 2017/18](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruben-neves/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225161/plus/0/saison/2017/wettbewerb/GB2/verein/543), the midfielder [playing 42 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruben-neves/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225161/plus/0/saison/2017/wettbewerb/GB2/verein/543) as Wolves won promotion to the Premier League, and he added [five more goals in 40 appearances in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ruben-neves/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/225161/plus/0/saison/2017/wettbewerb/GB2/verein/543) last season.

These Wolves fans on Twitter rejoiced in watching the goal and have enjoyed Neves’ performances since, with some recalling their own memories of that night in Hull:
