# Wolves: These fans saw the positives despite Carabao Cup exit

**Wolves were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Aston Villa on Wednesday night, but it could be a blessing in disguise for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. They’re in the middle of a congestion period of [seven games in 23 days](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj_xb_OucblAhXnQUEAHS-wBiAQFjABegQIARAG&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wolves.co.uk%2Ffixtures%2F&usg=AOvVaw26aOpw_-fT0m8JdGLHk33Y) and need to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.**

They’re [four points off the drop zone after 10 games](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjXwfbYucblAhUCQEEAHZGWC68QFjAAegQICBAH&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Fpremier-league%2Ftable&usg=AOvVaw3AGZD1OyzvGarDlJgYD68d), and that could worry fans who saw them finish seventh last season. Their Europa League campaign has been going well, with them winning [two of their three games](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjnkqPjucblAhUoQ0EAHcusD0EQFjAAegQIABAG&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Feuropa-league%2Ftable&usg=AOvVaw3SI4htlFGwZYtoNZKx0ZP8) in the group stage so far. While some might want a decent run in Europe, the club need to make sure they’re safe in the Premier League too.

Their manager made [11 changes](https://twitter.com/wolves/status/1189614193042808832?s=21) to [the team that drew at Newcastle](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiy27uLusblAhWNbVAKHe_DDIYQFjAAegQIARAG&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.skysports.com%2Ffootball%2Fnewcastle-vs-wolves%2F408076&usg=AOvVaw3M1s3Euvc8BcFNukq4nfAM) on Saturday for last night’s game, and many fans seemed to understand the reasoning behind fielding such a weakened team. When the club’s official Twitter account posted that they’d been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, the reaction in the replies weren’t too downbeat and some were even celebratory.

Here is a flavour of the post-match reaction on Twitter:

> Considering we’re prioritising the Premier League and Europe, fair play to the youngsters. Gave it their all against more experienced opposition.
