# Wolves: Jesus Vallejo and Patrick Cutrone could secure first starts at Molineux

**Two of Wolves’ summer signings could be in line for their full debuts for the club in tonight’s Europa League qualifier against FC Pyunik at Molineux.**

[BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49350263) reported that defender Jesus Vallejo could make his [first appearance for Wolves](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesus-vallejo/leistungsdaten/spieler/251896) against their Armenian opposition since [joining on loan from Real Madrid](https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/first-team/20190727-vallejo-joins-from-real-madrid/).

According to the [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49350263), striker Patrick Cutrone is in line to [appear in a Wolves starting line-up for the first time](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-cutrone/leistungsdaten/spieler/265078), following [substitute appearances in the team’s last two matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-cutrone/leistungsdaten/spieler/265078).

[BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49350263) added that winger Adama Traore is also available for tonight’s game, having missed the first leg in Armenia last week after forgetting his passport.

Vallejo came to Wolves in late July after making only [19 appearances in two years for Real Madrid](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesus-vallejo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/251896) and thus far he has been made to wait for his bow at Molineux, with the centre-back trio of [Willy Boly, Ryan Bennett and Conor Coady starting all four of their competitive matches so far this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wolverhampton-wanderers/leistungsdaten/verein/543/reldata/%262019/plus/1).

Tonight’s match could offer the 22-year-old Spanish defender a chance to showcase his excellent passing ability for Wolves – he had an [87.8% success rate in La Liga last term](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/238901/History/Jes%C3%BAs-Vallejo) and achieved a [passing accuracy of 91.7% in Spain’s European Under-21 Championship triumph in June \[WhoScored\]](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/238901/History/Jes%C3%BAs-Vallejo).

Vallejo’s tackling and interception figures are modest for a centre-back, though, with match averages of [1.2 tackles and 1.4 interceptions in 2018/19](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/238901/History/Jes%C3%BAs-Vallejo) paling in comparison with Boly’s [2.4 tackles and two interceptions per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/97587/History/Willy-Boly).

Cutrone played for [27 minutes in Yerevan a week ago](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-cutrone/leistungsdaten/spieler/265078) and was restricted to just [14 minutes in Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Leicester](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-cutrone/leistungsdaten/spieler/265078).

The 21-year-old striker [didn’t manage to get a shot on goal](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1375932/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Leicester-Wolverhampton-Wanderers) during his brief appearance at the King Power Stadium, and he was [dispossessed three times](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1375932/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Leicester-Wolverhampton-Wanderers), the [joint most of any player on the field that day](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1375932/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Leicester-Wolverhampton-Wanderers).

That frequent turnover of possession is something for Cutrone to work on, although the pressure is off to an extent tonight with Wolves going into the game with a [4-0 lead from the first leg](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2020/matches/round=2001148/match=2028041/index.html?iv=true).

Nuno Espirito Santo tends to be quite loyal to players who serve him well – [Boly, Bennett and Coady all played 40 or more games last season, while the squad’s other centre-backs had a combined two appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wolverhampton-wanderers/leistungsdaten/verein/543/plus/1?reldata=%262018).

However, with Wolves so far ahead in the tie and the home leg still to come, tonight represents a perfect opportunity for the manager to rest a few of his more established players and give newcomers such as Vallejo and Cutrone a chance to prove their worth from the start instead of being thrust into the action late on.
