# Wolves journalist hints at move for Goncalo Guedes

**New Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Bruno Lage could bolster his attacking options by sealing the signing of Goncalo Guedes, according to [Express & Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/) reporter Luke Hatfield.**

Lage moved into the Wolves [hotseat](https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/club/20210609-lage-becomes-new-wolves-head-coach/) in June, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo after the now-Tottenham Hotspur chief [mutually parted company](https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/club/20210521-nuno-set-to-leave-wolves/) with the club at the end of last season.

However, former Benfica boss Lage’s reign failed to get off to the perfect start as Wolves suffered a [1-0 defeat](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58124900) to Leicester City on the opening weekend of the Premier League campaign.

After drawing a blank at the King Power Stadium, Wolves are [pursuing a deal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/wolves-pursuing-25m-move-to-valencia-star-guedes/1e8hrujv2pygp15an1z4kp9x4r) for Valencia winger Guedes and a bid could be submitted in a matter of days.

Guedes racked up [seven goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-guedes/leistungsdaten/spieler/225122/plus/0?saison=2020) and as many assists last season, while he was [deployed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-guedes/leistungsdaten/spieler/225122/plus/0?saison=2021) as a second striker as Valencia got their La Liga campaign up-and-running with a 1-0 win over Getafe at the weekend.

Hatfield believes the 24-year-old Portugal international could be heading to Molineux.

He told The Transfer Tavern: *“Guedes is obviously a really exciting player who has performed in Spain.*

*“He fits the mould of a Wolves signing. With Pedro Neto still being injured, it wouldn’t surprise me if they are maybe looking at bolstering that area.*

*“But he wouldn’t be cheap by any means because he’s always been someone who is rated really highly.”*
