Out-of-favour Wolves winger Adama Traore is expected to leave the club during the summer transfer window, journalist Josh Holland has claimed.
The Lowdown: Traore struggles at Barca
The Spaniard made the loan move to Barcelona back in January, having failed to nail down a regular spot in Wanderers’ team under Bruno Lage.
Despite a bright start, Traore struggled at the La Liga giants, failing to score and registering just two assists in 11 league appearances overall.
It looks as though Barca have no interest in making the 26-year-old’s loan move permanent and he is now back at Wolves with his future up in the air, being linked with a switch to Everton.
The Latest: Journalist talks up exit
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Holland claimed that Traore’s future lies away from Molineux this summer:
“I don’t think he actually wants to stay at Wolves. I think his comments and his actions last season before he went to Barcelona kind of said that, obviously refused to sign a new contract. He’s been linked away for a few years now.”
The Verdict: Time for permanent exit
It seems clear that Lage doesn’t consider Traore part of his plans at Wolves moving forward, so it makes sense for all parties if he leaves for good this summer.
For all his stunning pace and quick feet, the winger has consistently flattered to deceive with his end product throughout his career, as summed up by his numbers for Barca. Just eleven goals and 18 assists in 154 Old Gold appearances is also a testament to that.
If Wolves can earn good money for the 5 foot 10 Traore’s services and ship him off, even if it’s to a Premier League rival, those funds could be spent on a more prolific wide player or a new central midfielder.
