# Wolves landing £4.5m-rated Celtic flop on loan would strengthen survival ambitions

**The Wolverhampton Wanderers fans are feeling confident in the Transfer Tavern ahead of their return to the Premier League next season, but they believe a handful of new acquisitions will be needed to strengthen their survival bid.**

Despite finishing top of the Championship by some distance, the ultimate aim for the Wanderers next season will be securing survival – anything more than that would be a bonus. Nuno Espirito Santo has a decent squad of players at his disposal who are more than capable of holding their own in the top-flight, but with a handful of wise acquisitions they could steer well clear of a dreaded relegation scrap.

One man who the club would be foolish not to consider this summer is Chelsea’s Charly Musonda (valued at £4.5 million by *[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/charly-musonda-jr-/profil/spieler/177862)*), despite the fact he has endured a torrid time during his loan spell at Celtic. Musonda arrived at Celtic Park with a glowing reputation after impressing in a handful of cameo appearances for Chelsea, but he has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular so far.

Musonda’s loan deal is supposed to be for a total of 18-months, however, according to *[ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3489921/chelsea-to-cancel-charly-musonda-celtic-loan-and-send-him-elsewhere-sources)*, Chelsea are eager to cancel the initial deal and send him on loan to another club where he will receive more first-team opportunities. The Belgian prodigy has played just 4 minutes of SPFL action in Celtic’s last 6 outings, so it’s easy to understand why Chelsea are keen on loaning him elsewhere next season.

The 21-year-old cuts a slight figure and will need to work on his strength in order to succeed in the Premier League, but he possesses the pace, balance and technical ability to become a resounding success in the future. Musonda predominantly operates in a central-attacking-midfield role or on the right-side of an attacking front-three, so Santo would have greater license to experiment with formations and combinations in order to find a winning formula next season.

Evidently, Chelsea are eager for Musonda to become a first-team regular on his next loan deal, so Wolves will need to ensure there is a place for him within the starting eleven. If the hierarchy at Wolves ultimately decide they can guarantee Musonda first-team football, they should do everything they can to secure a loan deal for his services.
