# Wolves: Many fans identify Virgil van Dijk as dream defensive signing

**Many Wolves fans have named Virgil van Dijk as the centre-back they would most like the club to sign from a list of defenders.**

Wolves Live on Twitter ([@WolvesFC\_latest](https://twitter.com/wolvesfc_latest/status/1192909659394445312?s=21)) gave followers a choice of one player from a list of centre-backs whom they would like to have at Molineux, with plenty opting for the Liverpool and Netherlands defender.

Wolves have recently seen two of their regular centre-backs sidelined through injury, with Willy Boly fracturing his fibula in late October and facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines (as per [Birmingham Live](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/willy-boly-injury-update-wolves-17174673)) and Ryan Bennett missing last week’s trip to Arsenal with a groin problem (as per [Express & Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2019/11/06/wolves-v-slovan-bratislava-team-news-and-match-preview-video/)).

Midfielders [Leander Dendoncker](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leander-dendoncker/leistungsdaten/spieler/168157) and [Romain Saiss](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/romain-saiss/leistungsdaten/spieler/204198) have filled in at centre-back in recent games, while right-back Matt Doherty, who [injured his knee against Arsenal](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2019/11/06/wolves-v-slovan-bratislava-team-news-and-match-preview-video/), [shuffled across into that position in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3219380) two weeks ago.

Liverpool defender Van Dijk is the reigning [PFA Player of the Year](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48065752) and was also named as [UEFA Men’s Player of the Year](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2618573.html) for 2018/19.

These Wolves fans on Twitter identified the 28-year-old as their dream defensive signing:
