# Wolves: Michy Batshuayi emerges as new Molineux target

**According to [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/chelsea/exclusive-greenlight-batshuayi-exit-leeds-everton-among-quinet-interested), Wolves are among the clubs interested in signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi in the upcoming summer transfer window.**

### The lowdown: Eternal loanee

Since joining Chelsea from French Ligue 1 side Marseille in 2016 in a move worth a reported £33million ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36698980)), the Belgian frontman has spent five spells away from the London outfit at four different clubs.

The 28-year-old has been sent on temporary moves to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace before [joining Besiktas](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/transfers/spieler/179184) for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign.

Upon making the temporary switch to Turkey, Batshuayi signed a [contract extension](https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2021/08/18/contract-extension-and-loan-for-batshuayi) with Chelsea until 2023, but a move may well come sooner and this one could finally be permanent.

### The latest: Wolves part of major interest

As per the report from [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/chelsea/exclusive-greenlight-batshuayi-exit-leeds-everton-among-quinet-interested), Wolves, Southampton, Everton, Brighton and Leeds United are all keen on the [41-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/nationalmannschaft/spieler/179184/verein_id/3382) Belgium international.

The report states that there is also interest from Germany, Italy and Spain in the frontman once described as [‘unstoppable’](https://metro.co.uk/2017/10/24/chelsea-striker-michy-batshuayi-is-a-priceless-talent-says-blues-legend-pat-nevin-7023281/) by legendary Chelsea figure Pat Nevin following a brace against Watford in 2017.

Whilst there is no mention of a fee for the Belgian, having entered the final 14 months of a deal and with the London club currently in a state of ownership limbo, an affordable move may well be imminently possible come to the summer transfer window.

### The verdict: Smart move

Possessing proven Premier League ability with [15 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/179184) in the English top-flight, Batshuayi would be an ideal candidate to supplement Raul Jimenez in the Wanderers squad.

So far this season the powerful ace has scored [14 times and registered five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michy-batshuayi/leistungsdaten/spieler/179184) in 28 Super Lig outings, earning an impressive 7.04 rating whilst completing 1.4 shots on target and 33.2 touches on average per game ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/michy-batshuayi/147745)).

However, one of the key components to Jimenez’s game for Bruno Lage’s side is his heading ability, something Batshuayi falls way short on when compared to the Mexican, winning just 29.9% of career aerial duels compared to 42.2% ([Fbref](https://fbref.com/en/stathead/player_comparison.cgi?request=1&sum=1&comp_type=by_type&dom_lg=1&spec_comps=big_5&player_id1=2973d8ff&player_id2=b561db50)).

Despite this apparent shortcoming, adding the Belgian to the Molineux ranks for the right price would still remain a worthwhile venture, perhaps adding a slightly different style of play to utilise when Jimenez is struggling.
