# Wolves: Jones says Kalajdzic has been dealt a crushing blow

**[Wolves](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/) summer signing Sasa Kalajdzic has been dealt a crushing blow for the 2022/2023 [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) campaign, says reporter Dean Jones.**

### The Lowdown: Wolves suffer blow…

Bruno Lage, it’s safe to say, has been dealt a real blow over his new striker with news recently coming to light of a serious injury.

Kalajdzic made his debut in Wolves’ 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday but was hauled off at half time after feeling pain in his knee, with scans [then revealing](https://www.wolves.co.uk/news/mens-first-team/20220904-injury-update-kalajdzic-and-jimenez/) that the Austrian suffered an ACL problem.

Anterior cruciate injuries traditionally take [between six to nine months](https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/16576-acl-anterior-cruciate-ligament-tears) to heal depending on their severity, dealing a real blow to Kalajdzic, who could now miss the majority of this [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) campaign.

### The Latest: Jones reacts…

Speaking to [GiveMeSport,](https://www.givemesport.com/88056295-wolves-suffer-absolutely-devastating-blow-over-15-5m-star-at-molineux) journalist Jones has responded to this development and calls it ‘devastating’ for both the player and Wolves.

He also says Kalajdzic will be ‘absolutely crushed’ by this news.

*“It’s absolutely devastating for the player and the club.*

*“He looks a really good fit for the Premier League and he will be absolutely crushed by this news.”*

### The Verdict: Troubling times…

Lage is now really short of depth up front, prompting the Molineux side to turn to the free agent market.

In a bid to strengthen their options, Wolves have been linked with Bosman swoops for the likes of [Andy Carroll and Diego Costa,](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11185135/Wolves-eye-Andy-Carroll-Diego-Costa-fails-ex-Chelsea-mans-work-permit-rejected.html) with supporters hoping they find a striker solution sooner rather than later.

Kalajdzic, given his size and ability, would have been a fine option for this campaign but it could now be a while before his return to action.
