Campbell hugely impressed with Traore
The 24-year-old has been hugely impressive for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, especially last season after he scored six goals and provided 12 assists from 54 appearances in all competitions (TransferMarkt).
Traore’s player development, ever since his £18m move from Middlesbrough in 2018, has been a hot topic of discussion for some time, with Martin Keown describing him as the “Lewis Hamilton” of football (via talkSPORT).
Reports last month suggested that the Spain international is in ‘advanced talks’ over a new blockbuster four-year contract, which would be for a £100k-a-week, worth £21m.
Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell believes that it would be a massive boost for the club if the Spaniard opted to commit his future to the West Midlands outfit.
“It would be huge for Wolves if Adama Traore signs a new deal,” he said.
“He is a different player to the one that arrived at Wolves. He has end product now and is a nightmare to stop.
“Why would he go somewhere else? Somewhere which is not a learning environment because he is improving under Nuno.
“It would be huge for both player and club if he signs a new contract.”
Transfer Tavern take
Campbell is absolutely right here, despite Traore’s struggles this term. Securing the services of a player that has been courted by Liverpool and Manchester City will provide a huge momentum boost around the club.
His unorthodox style of play, which includes blistering pace and immense strength, are combined characteristics that are rarely seen from players across the Premier League.
Having Traore, for that reason, will come as a huge advantage to them. If he starts more games, he will have to perform to justify his new Molineux deal though.
