Wolves journalist for The Athletic Steve Madeley has revealed that Boubacar Traore has not travelled with the squad to play Chelsea because of illness.
The Lowdown: Neto blow
The Midlands club were rocked with a big injury blow on Friday evening, when it was confirmed that Pedro Neto requires surgery on strained lateral ankle ligaments.
It means that not only will he be sidelined for a number of months, but he will also miss the FIFA World Cup in Qatar with Portugal.
Neto missed almost a year of action with an ankle injury between the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns, and now the 22-year-old is looking at a similar fate.
The Latest: Traore also out
Taking to Twitter on Friday evening, Madeley has revealed that while Matheus Nunes is ‘fit’, fellow new signing Traore has not travelled with the Wolves squad to face Chelsea due to illness.
The reporter tweeted: “Bit of extra team news for Wolves tomorrow. Boubacar Traore won’t travel due to illness, but Matheus Nunes is fit.”
The Verdict: Another blow
After the news of Neto’s long-term injury, Wolves supporters will not want to hear that Traore will also be missing from the matchday squad at Stamford Bridge.
The loan signing has only seen 37 minutes of Premier League action in his Old Gold career so far, so the Wanderers will no doubt be desperate to see more of him on the pitch.
The Molineux outfit already have a number of first-team players out through injury and suspension already, so they will be hoping that Traore can make a swift recovery.
