Former Premier League striker Dean Windass has told The Transfer Tavern in an exclusive interview that he would like to see Bruno Lage try Adama Traore up front for Wolves.
Before his horrific head injury, Raul Jimenez had been leading the line for Wolves. Meanwhile, Traore has mainly been used down the right-hand side.
However, as per WhoScored, the 25-year-old did at times play down the middle during the 2020/21 season, and it is something Windass is hoping to see more of in the forthcoming campaign.
Would you like to see Traore up front?
It could work
No, he's a winger
The ex-Hull City forward told TT:
“He played sort of right wing-back with Nuno. Stick him down the middle, stick him down the middle as a No.9.
“He’ll be a massive player for Wolves next year. They’ll need him, they’ll need his pace.”
The Midlands club could face a fight to keep hold of him, though. European champions Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel are said to be interested in bringing Traore to Stamford Bridge this summer.
When it comes to the right flank, however, Inter Milan’s Achraf Hakimi seems to be their primary target, with The Athletic reporting that a bid has already been submitted, so there is no reason for Wolves to hit the panic button yet.
