Wolves made a big mistake in signing Willian Jose on loan last season, according to reliable journalist Luke Hatfield.

The Lowdown: Willian Jose flopped at Wolves

The Brazilian made a loan move to Molineux back in January, arriving on a temporary basis from La Liga outfit Real Sociedad.

He proved to be a hugely disappointing signing, though, scoring just once in 1,114 minutes across 17 Premier League appearances, despite being an attacker.

The 30-year-old left Wolves in the summer and is now on loan at Real Betis, where has admittedly fared better so far, bagging five league goals already this season.

The Latest: Hatfield criticises Jose signing

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Hatfield claimed it was a deal to forget for Wanderers and admitted that it was one which simply didn't work out.

He said: "Let's be honest, it turned out to be a bit of a mistake that one, he really struggled I thought."

The Verdict: One to forget

Every club has signings which don't work out from time and time, and that certainly applies to Wolves' acquisition of Jose.

Some players struggle to adapt to the frenetic nature of the Premier League and that seemed to happen to the 30-year-old, with journalist Tim Spiers claiming that his form had 'dipped' as early as March.

Wolves are now flourishing without Jose, sitting sixth in the Premier League and with Bruno Lage creating a vibrant attack featuring the likes of Francisco Trincao, Hwang Hee-chan and Raul Jimenez, who between them have plundered seven league goals already this term.

While it was a potentially exciting signing at the time - Jose's record of 62 goals in 170 Sociedad appearances is impressive - it is one which needs to be filed away and forgotten about.
