Wolves: Niall Ennis in line for a new contract at Molineux - Wolves News

Wolves have opened discussions to reward young striker Niall Ennis with a new contract at the Molineux Stadium, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has not yet made a first-team appearance for the West Midlands outfit but has been impressive for the U23s side, particularly during the 2018/19 campaign, when he scored nine goals and provided three assists from 20 appearances, as per TransferMarkt.

Ennis had a successful loan spell at Doncaster Rovers and earned the respect from manager Darren Moore during this time there, who praised his hard work and determination, something he will need in spades to eventually succeed the irrepressible Raul Jimenez.

As his rise through the Molineux ranks continues, he could be rewarded for all of his hard work in recent years.

According to Football Insider, Ennis could be handed a new contract before the young hotshot is sent out on loan once more.

The report adds that a temporary move to a Football League side could be sealed by the end of the week as he continues his personal development. Domestically, clubs can still negotiate transfers until October 16th despite the deadline of signing overseas players passing.

This will be a great confidence boost for Ennis. Not only will he get the chance to show what he has in his locker at another club, but also has his long-term future at a Premier League club tied up.

The former England U19 international has proved himself for James Collins’ side having scored 12 times and provided seven assists from 48 outings, which will have caught Nuno Espirito Santo’s attention as a future striker in his team.

Realistically, it is slightly too early for Ennis to start thinking about first-team football at Wolves, due to the scintillating form that Jimenez has been in since their promotion to the Premier League, but a new deal implies Nuno believes he could one day step into the Mexico star’s shoes.

All Ennis has to do is to keep doing what he is doing. If he does that, an opportunity for him at the highest level is not a million miles away.
