Wolves could be set to miss out the AZ Alkmaar winger Oussama Idrissi, who is reportedly on the verge of completing a ‘dream transfer’.
The 24-year-old has been followed by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side closely throughout the past week as today’s deadline edges ever closer.
So far, the West Midlands outfit have bought Fabio Silva, Nelson Semedo, Ki-Jana Hoever, Marcal and Matija Sarkic to the Molineux, as well as Vitinha and Rayan Ait-Nouri on respective loan deals, making a total spend of £73.62m, as per TransferMarkt.
Despite this outlay, it looked like Wolves weren’t finished there. El Desmarque revealed that a bid of around £14.5m was submitted to the Eredivisie outfit.
But their chances appear to have been squandered by Sevilla, with De Telegraaf revealing Idrissi will make a ‘dream transfer’ to the La Liga outfit.
The report added that a deal of around €12m (£10.8m) with add-ons has been agreed between the two sides, having already travelled to Spain to complete his medical.
It’s always disappointing to miss out on a top target, but with Idrissi slipping through their fingers, Wolves may have left themselves exposed with just a few hours to go until the transfer window closes.
Diogo Jota was sold to Liverpool for £41m a few weeks ago, which has given them plenty of time to find a replacement. However, this has not proven to be an easy task.
By not replacing the Portuguese winger, they are only limiting themselves as far as attacking creativity is concerned. Having only just got over the line against Fulham yesterday, it seems clear that they are still short in that department.
Nuno has to think about bringing in an attacker and not being tempted to panic buy. Raul Jimenez will get them goals but it’s getting the ball to him that matters!
