Wolves are one of the clubs in the race to secure a January deal for Blackburn Rovers attacker Ben Brereton Diaz.

The Lowdown: Wolves' attacking problems

This season has seen the Old Gold struggle in front of goal in the Premier League. The Molineux club have only netted eight goals across their 14 top-flight outings, leaving them with the worst attacking record in the division.

With that in mind, it appears as though the club have put themselves in the race to land a highly coveted attacker who could certainly help them to become a more clinical team under new manager Julen Lopetegui.

The Latest: Big interest in Brereton Diaz

According to a report from 90min on Tuesday, Wolves are one of the Premier League clubs eyeing a January move for Brereton Diaz, for whom Blackburn could be willing to accept offers upwards of £10m.

The report adds that the Old Gold have been scouting the player in recent weeks, alongside the other top-flight clubs who have been linked with the 23-year-old.

The Verdict: No-brainer for Wolves

Hailed as a "wonderful" and "extraordinary" player by his former Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray, Brereton Diaz has 51 goals to his name from his 208 club career appearances.

This season has seen the Chile international score nine goals across his 20 Championship outings, also taking more shots at goal (61) and getting more shots on target (21) than any other player at the Lancashire club.

This highlights how much of a nuisance he is for opposition goalkeepers and why he would probably be a vital figure for Wolves, given how they have the second-lowest percentage of shots on target (26.8%) in the top flight this season.

Despite the plethora of clubs who are reportedly looking at signing the Blackburn star, we feel that Wolves should do all that they can to get themselves at the front of the queue and sign him in January, given how he's scored more league goals on his own in 2022/23 than everyone at Molineux put together.
