Many Wolves fans were impressed with defender Romain Saiss during his side’s FA Cup tie against Southampton on Thursday evening.
The 30-year-old lined up for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side at the heart of a makeshift back three, including Max Kilman and Leander Dendoncker.
Saiss was not afraid to get stuck in, and made a crucial block from Danny Ings before the 10-minute mark to stop the Englishman from testing John Ruddy in between the sticks.
The Morocco international appeared to be assertive and in control in and around the hosts’ 18-yard box, dominating in the air and could leave Nuno thinking about playing him against in the second part of their Saints’ double-header.
Is Romain Saiss an automatic starter for Wolves?
Because of this, supporters were delighted with what they saw from Saiss and some were quick to offer their comparisons with skipper Conor Coady.
