Wolves fans were left annoyed and disappointed as they discovered their club had two substantially large bids rejected for Benfica centre-forward Carlos Vinicius.
The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Molineux this summer, but the Portuguese outfit announced that an agreement was in place between themselves and Tottenham Hotspur regarding a season-long loan move worth around €3m.
According to TVI24 (via Sport Witness), Wolves did try and get their man but offers of €45m (£40.7m) and €60m (£54.3m) were astoundingly rejected by the Liga NOS runners-up.
The report added that it was only after failing to sign Vinicius, Nuno Espirito Santo turned his attention to Porto’s Fabio Silva, who eventually agreed a move to the Premier League for a fee of £35.6m, as per BBC Sport.
Should Wolves have paid up for Carlos Vinicius?
Having sold Diogo Jota to Liverpool a few weeks ago, Wolves are at risk of being weaker in terms of strength in depth than they were before the summer transfer window opened, which has understandably upset many fans.

What rubbish, if a 60m bid was rejected in January why would Wolves come back in last month with a lower offer?

I very much doubt that Wolves would make a bid of €60m for a player? Either back in January or at anytime? It’s just not the way we do business?

If true just goes to show that we have to win something or at least consistently get into top6 before big players come to us
