Many Wolves fans were disappointed with the performance of striker Fabio Silva during his side's 2-0 defeat to Southampton on Friday night.

The Black Country club bowed out of the FA Cup in the fifth round, in what was the first of a doubleheader against the Saints. Goals from Danny Ings and Stuart Armstrong in the second half ensured the visitors advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition.

For the hosts, Silva is a player that has found himself under the magnifying glass regularly since his £35.6m move from FC Porto in the summer - and this game was no exception.

Per Sofascore, Silva had just one shot on goal, only won two out of seven individual duels and accumulated a pass success rate of just 45%. This led to him being substituted after 64 minutes.

Because of this, supporters were left frustrated once again with his performance. While he is only 18 years old, this did not stop some fans offering some brutal opinions on social media.

Fabio Silva in the firing line

"Oh and apparently we played 4 midfielders so was Nuno going for a 541? Vitinha never got in the game, MGW was his usual anonymous self apart from the odd flick, dive and wrong decision, and Silva was doing a terrible impression of a target man. #wwfc"

"Shearer was a top finisher, Owen had pace to burn, Rooney had quality and strength all at a young early age, Silva has nothing, he looks way out his depth the three I mentioned had all their assets at 18 years of age, Silva looks lost and I want him to do well #wwfc"

"Silva very lightweight needs to work with Traore in the gym! Lots of players getting pushed off the ball very easily and looking for free kicks instead of getting up & trying to win the ball back. Gibbs-White offers nothing, not sure why he’s still here? #WWFC"

"Silva, MGW, Vitinha for me no way near playing 1st team football all are too light weight, too slow and always on their heels and it looks like a level too far #wwfc"

"I'm generally a happy clapper & proud but Gibbs-White, Vitinha & Silva just do not look up to it for me, ok Silva is young & time is on his side but I'm not convinced any of them are our future #wwfc"

"Get Silva off, rather not see him again in the next five seasons #wwfc"
